Rant

OK, I've sat by idly enough listening to the talking heads on ‘Sportscenter’, ‘Basbeball Tonight’ and the various other sports radio talkshows. The Padres never get the respect they deserve. Discussion of Bonds’ infected knee dominates the news in the NL West while any mention of the Padres winning streak and superior play are overshadowed by a insignificant 9 game winning streak that was recently put together by the Evil Empire (Yankees) against some of the poorest performing teams at the moment in the American League (Oakland, Seattle). While my Padres have swept both the Marlins and Braves, the top teams in the NL East and took 3 of 4 from the NL Central leading Cardinals; defenders of last years NL title. In doing so the Padres have climbed to the top of the NL West and have taken sole possession of first place. The Padres are firing on all cylinders and are by far the best team in baseball at this time. Tonight they square off against Seattle to open interleague play with Peavy making the start. Expect big production offensively from the Padres this series as they insert Klesko in DH role. Let’s see how much longer the Padres can go playing great ball and not get respect. Maybe its better this way… lie low in the weeds before pouncing on the prey.

Ok, screw Baseball Tonight on ESPN. We got Peavy, 8 wins in a row, 1st place team... I keep watching, Yankee this, Dodger that, Giants this, Braves that.... on and on...

Even the Rockies and Pirates got a lot of highlight time. And where are the Padres, did I miss it, fuck no.

Here it is, oh wait, it is some fat ass talking about pitching he liked today. They show Peavy striking out Ichiro. 5 seconds air time. That's it. No more.

A fucking half-hour show!!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

Now do I have to stay up for SportsCenter to see if they are as bad?

Ditto, Bri....What do the Padres have to do besides play great baseball to get any recognition??! We'll see who gets the last laugh...and it won't be the Yanks, Mr. Anonymous! Mary C.

It's eaarly, Brian. Don't get all Red October on me.
But you are right about Sports Center. They are bias to the Yanks, and even more so to Bonds. But that's just because those two are on a collision course with catastrophe. And pain sells. and the homegrwon Padres winning 9 in a row in a western division that... well (and I'm a huge dodger fan_ let's face it, we have the weakest division in Baseball.

so, let's keep our wits about us.

By the by, ANY team can put together a good month. Hell, the Padres did it. Ther Dodgers took April. Let's see about June, July, etc.
we won't be seeing your boys come september

:(
