NL West Predictions

1. Padres will have a productive '05 after an average '04 from most of its regulars that still kept them in the race into the final weeks of the season. Not only will the offense put up better numbers in the new year but look for strong seasons from the young pitching. Don't forget the deep bullpen that could take them far even into the post season. Hells Bells!

2.
Diamondbacks have retooled after there worst season. The Big Unit will be missed but the additions of Shawn Green, Troy Glaus, pitchers Russ Ortiz and Shawn Estes will keep them near the top but not close enough.

3.
Giants no longer a Giant anymore. Could this be the beginning of a post Bonds era? Its hard to imagine but the loss of Barry for at least half the season, if not longer, is a defeict they will be hard pressed to overcome. Hey Barry! They will still make you pee in the cup even when on the IR!

4.
Dodgers will not repeat the surprise season that led to the division title. In fact they will find it hard to compete at all with a downgraded defense and lineup that lacks power. Don't forget about the all the question marks that exist in the pitching. '05 Dodgers = '05 Lakers, you can't blame Kobe for this one.

5.
Rockies are still working on building there team from within. They are taking steps in the right direction but are a work in progress. Be patient Rockies fan.... if there are any left.

Post your own NL West prediction. If you do better than me there might be a bottle or two of homebrew in it for you.

I'm realistic. I realize my Dodgers are probably not going to repeat the division, I'm pushing for a wild card spot - But you are off in La La land with this 'young pitching' and riding Trevor - come on, baby. Arizona should win the division, but Barry or no Barry the Giants will finish above the Padres.

Tom's predictions
1. Giants
2 Arizona
3 LA
4 Padres
5 Rockies

Tom wants

See, even in my dream la la land I don't hate the padres more than the Giants. :)
